Masaryktown is a small Czech and Slovak American settlement in southern Hernando County, founded in 1925 by immigrants from the former Czechoslovakia who migrated south from Cleveland and Chicago looking for affordable farmland. The community was named for Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia.
