Masaryktown is a small Czech and Slovak American settlement in southern Hernando County, founded in 1925 by immigrants from the former Czechoslovakia who migrated south from Cleveland and Chicago looking for affordable farmland. The community was named for Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia. Today the community retains a quiet rural character along the US 41 corridor, with multi generational properties on modest acreage.
